01. Company Introduction
The founder of the company is a fitness enthusiast and serial entrepreneur. We had worked on multiple projects with the founder and hence, he reached out to us with the idea of creating a fitness app that would help users in setting and working towards their fitness goals. The purpose of the app was to enable users in tracking their workouts, work on personalized recommendations, engage in gamification and social media platforms.
02. Requirements
Basis our discussion with the customer, the below business requirements were highlighted:
– A mobile app to be developed which would run seamlessly on Android and iOS.
– Involving the real users throughout the project to ensure that the mobile app is built with the real-time feedback of the prospective users and not basis the assumption, and past experience.
– An easy to use backend management with multi-user role enablement so that multiple people can be involved in keeping the app updated while ensuring the approval workflow mapping at each level.
– Clean and clear navigation which would provide the world-class user experience and minimize the number of clicks / slides etc.
– The mobile app should be well optimized for speed, performance and reliability.
– Features like Personalized Workout Plans, Wearables Integration, Gamification, Social Media Integration, Third-Party Nutrition App Integration, Reminders and In-app Purchases for app monetization to be implemented.
– Bold colours and motivational imagery to be used for users’ motivation towards fitness.
– The MVP of the mobile app to go-live in a span of 6 months followed by a full-fledged mobile app version with all the features incorporated.
03. The Solution
The TAV team worked very closely with the customer to develop the fitness app in line with the user expectations, business requirements and created a top-notch user experience for the prospective mobile app users.
– Created a simple and easy to use customer sign up process by taking the minimum details from the user that would help them get started with the fitness goals. The initial inputs shared by users helped in generating a personalized workout plan which could be revised as the user progressed with his fitness journey.
– Involved the real users to design a clean and intuitive user interface that enabled users to keep a track of all their fitness activities at their finger tips without annoying the users with irrelevant information.
– Enabled easy to use Admin role based features so that respective employees could update their respective content on the fitness app.
– Enabled all the fitness and nutrition related features on the app as defined in the scope of work.
– Integrated the mobile app with almost all the popular wearables like Fitbit, Samsung, Garmin, and Apple Watch.
– Designed the app with gamification and social aspects in mind which allowed users to follow, interact and share with other users.
– Integrated the app with a popular third-party nutrition app with an option to re-align the nutrition plan in line with their fitness goals.
– Developed a range of premium features such as personalized coaching, workout and diet plans, which could be purchased within the app.
The word ‘design’ is everything and nothing. The design and the product itself are inseparable.

04. The Result
The mobile app users shared positive reviews across app stores and social media. The app saw a consistent increase in downloads and user engagement month on month. This enabled the company to successfully monetize the app through in-app purchases.
